What happened to the PHProxy script coded by whitefyre?

If you run a proxy you are familiar with the script, PHProxy, that used to be hosted at http://whitefyre.com/. The coder of PHProxy, Abdullah Arif, took down his site is a sort of odd disappearing act.

Claiming the use of proxies to circumvent censorship as immoral, whitefyre left this statement in place of where you could once download PHProxy. (see below)

People speculated what happened, maybe he was from Iran and was shut down by the government. Others tried to take over the project. In response to many emails he later added.

It's a shame he chose to remove it, but it is still available on SourceForge. As of September 2007 "this project is no longer under active development."
